How to Make Great Short Form Videos for Your Business

If you’re a business owner and you’re trying to make short form videos, Congrats!

Short form content is an amazing way to deliver value or entertainment, and most importantly to introduce yourself (and your products/services) to a wider audience.

And it's not going away. In fact it's becoming the main way we enjoy our content.

If you’re just starting, that's amazing!

And you're in the right place, because we've got some thoughts on how to make sure you are making great videos that actually help your business?

Here are 3 strategic things you can do to ensure your videos are impactful from the get-go.

Know Your Audience

This should already be a part of your brand strategy and it's extremely important when making content for your business.

If you don’t know who your target audience is, you need to figure that out first.

Be specific and intentional with who you are making content for.

Otherwise, you'll be sending videos out into the void.

Limit Your Topic

Pick one way you can help your audience.

This is “short form” content. Not a podcast. You need to be concise and direct.

You don’t have time to talk about all your products.

Also your viewer doesn’t want to listen for hours of you talking.

So pick 1 topic that you think could actually help someone, try to make something only about that.

Script it

Whether you're good on camera or shy and uncomfortable, you should be scripting.

This is a new form of media to you, and you need practice figuring out what works.

Scripting will save you time with filming and editing, and it means you’ve done the work to distill down the core your message -- instead of putting that work on your viewer.

I know scripting sucks at first - or can feel silly - but you’ll thank yourself later.

Conclusion

There's a lot more you can dive into. Script scrtucture, hooks, lighting, cameras, music - the list goes on and on.

But at the end of the day, you just need to start.

You'll get better the more you do it.

And if you follow these tips, I guarantee you’ll be making videos that mean something to your audience and your business will be better for it.
